COUPLES COUNSELING

best relationship therapist austin, tx

Our relationships are opportunities for growth and healing.

Humans are wired for connection. However, most of us were never shown how to connect with others in a healthy, rewarding, or meaningful way. So, we repeat the same old relational patterns from one partner to the next and wind up feeling frustrated, resentful, insecure, or stuck in our relationships.

Couples counseling can help. In fact, therapy with your partner provides a unique opportunity for powerful transformation.

I am passionate about working with couples because I believe that healthy relationships have the power to heal. I used to believe the myth that I had to love myself before I could love anyone else. Nope! It was actually in the relationship I had with my partner where I learned how to better understand and accept myself. Was it easy? No way! But it was certainly worth the effort.

In my own couples therapy, I discovered that a secure base is the foundation upon which partners can build trust, communicate better, repair conflict, deepen connection, and ultimately heal old wounds. I found that by working together as a couple, you not only improve the relationship you have with your partner – but the one you have with yourself. This felt like a revelation.

Couples therapy sparked my desire to help other people have relationships that heal instead of hurt. My primary goal as a couples therapist is to provide a safe and supportive space in which I guide you in creating the relationship you truly want.

Our work together will help you achieve a deeper understanding of yourself and your partner, recognize and change unhealthy behaviors, feel more secure in your relationship, become skilled at supporting and caring for your partner, gain clarity around relationship agreements, increase intimacy and authenticity, and make the health of your relationship a priority in your life.

To work with couples, specialized training is vital. I have studied extensively with Terry Real, renowned therapist, author, and creator of Relational Life Therapy. I have also trained with leading relationship experts Stan Tatkin and Esther Perel. I want you to feel better fast, so I use the latest therapy approaches to help couples achieve quicker and longer lasting results than more traditional models.

If you’re struggling in your relationship and truly committed to getting help, or want to take an already great relationship to the next level, then let’s find out if we’re a fit.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Couples therapy with me is direct, candid, and hands-on. Yes, it’s challenging at times, yet compassionate, playful, and hopeful, too.

It is not old-school talk therapy — it is “show me” therapy. You’ll practice new behaviors and better ways of relating in real-time, which leads to a quicker resolution of issues and longer-lasting change than by simply talking about your problems.

What couples tend to experience over time is more ease, security, empathy, passion, fun, and intimacy in their relationship.
